Features

Powered rotation and tilt for glass installation

The OKTOPUS GL-M 1200 G hangs from the hook of a crane or hoist. Rotation and tilt run from a radio remote, so a pane picked up flat can be set upright without the crane changing position.

01

Powered rotation

The suction frame rotates continuously through 360°, turning glass between portrait and landscape under power.

02

Powered tilt

The frame tilts through 90° for horizontal-to-vertical handling, changing the pane’s orientation between pickup and placement.

03

Adjustable pad layouts

The frame can carry 8, 10 or 12 suction pads. The layout is chosen around the glass dimensions, its weight and the available contact areas.

04

Radio control

The operator controls the lifter by radio remote. The fitted blow-off function assists pad release once the glass is supported at its landing position.

Applications

Large panes and architectural glazing

Curtain wall glazing

Flat glass panes and suitable glazed elements for facade installation. Powered rotation orients the pane as it approaches the opening.

Window replacement

Large window units and replacement glass travel from the delivery position to the installation area on a compatible crane or hoist.

Architectural glass

Suitable flat glass for feature installations and specialist work. Coatings, contact areas and the glass’s stiffness are reviewed when choosing the pad layout.

Glass surfaces and pad contact

The pads need smooth, airtight contact areas that are clean, dry and free of oil or protective film. Glass coatings and the pane’s stiffness also affect the setup. Stone, metal and other panels need their own equipment and pad assessment.

8 suction pads800 kg / 1,764 lb
10 suction pads1,000 kg / 2,205 lb

Working load limits apply to flat glass in the approved pad arrangement. Glass dimensions, surface condition and site elevation are checked for the job, and above 400 m / 1,312 ft elevation the capacity needs a separate review.

The drawings show the compact and extended frames as well as the 12-pad layout. The layout is chosen for the pane and its contact areas.

Plan the lift

Crane reach and room to place the glass

The crane and combined load

The OKTOPUS has no lifting height or reach of its own. The host crane must support the glass, the lifter and the rigging at the required radius, and the pickup point, landing position and headroom set the lifting arrangement.

The opening and site conditions

The glass, the suction frame and its rotation or tilt all need clearance near the opening. Wind exposure, temperature and site elevation are reviewed with the lift, and balconies, canopies and other obstructions may call for a counterbalance beam.

Questions about the OKTOPUS rental

How much can the GL-M 1200 G lift?

The flat-glass working load limit is 1,200 kg / 2,646 lb with 12 pads, 1,000 kg / 2,205 lb with 10 pads and 800 kg / 1,764 lb with 8 pads. The approved pad arrangement and site conditions also apply.

Do we need a crane, and how high can it lift?

Yes. The GL-M 1200 G is a below-the-hook attachment, so a compatible crane or hoist provides the lifting, lowering, height and reach. Those depend on the crane’s capacity at the working radius, and its load includes the glass, the lifter and the rigging.

What glass can it handle?

Suitable flat glass panes and window elements. The suction areas must be smooth, airtight, clean, dry and free of protective film, and coatings, glass dimensions and stiffness are reviewed before the pad layout is chosen.

Can it work beneath a balcony or canopy?

Possibly. The lifter accepts a compatible counterbalance-beam adapter, and Pick & Place offers a counterbalance beam as a separate rental. The combined setup is assessed for the glass weight, offset and available space.

Can it handle curved glass?

Curved glass uses a separate adapter arrangement with its own capacity and curvature limits. Include the panel’s curve and dimensions when requesting it, because the flat-glass ratings on this page do not describe that kit.

Is an operator included?

Yes. A trained operator is included with the rental, and the quote states whether a crane or beam is part of the job.

Do you rent outside Vancouver?

Yes. Rentals cover the Lower Mainland, and projects elsewhere in British Columbia and Canada can be arranged. Share the location and rental period so we can confirm transport and the site-specific setup.
