Counterbalance beam
Rental with an operator in Vancouver
Crane-mounted counterbalance beam for placing glass beneath balconies, soffits and canopies. The OKTOPUS GGA 1500 carries the load forward of the crane hook on powered counterweights. Rent it with a trained operator in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

How it works
Placing glass beneath an overhang
A balcony or canopy can block the crane’s direct lifting line. The counterbalance beam carries the load forward of the crane hook, with counterweights behind the hook to balance it.
Offset load position
The forward arm holds the load beneath the obstruction while the crane hook stays outside it. The overhang is adjustable, and the rated load falls as the overhang grows.
Motor-driven counterweights
A powered carriage moves the counterweights along the beam. The operator adjusts them by remote as the load is picked up or set down, and the crane still provides the lift and moves the assembly.
Vacuum lifter or load hook
A vacuum lifter for glass or a load hook for other loads fits the same connecting plate. Each has its own working load limits.

Applications
Balconies, recessed glazing and facade openings
Glass below balconies and canopies
Suitable glass panes and window units can be placed beneath a projecting slab, roof edge or entrance canopy. The beam bridges the gap between the crane hook and the installation position.
Recessed facade openings
The lifting attachment reaches into an opening set back from the building face. Headroom, pane size and the space behind the crane hook all affect the arrangement.
Panels and other construction elements
The load hook handles suitable elements with proper lifting points and rigging. Glass goes on a compatible vacuum lifter instead, and each attachment has its own capacity and setup.

Plan the lift
Headroom, rear clearance and crane capacity
Headroom and rear clearance
The forward arm needs clearance beneath the obstruction. Behind the crane hook, the beam and its travelling counterweights need room to move, and nearby balconies, scaffolding and the building face can limit both ends.
Crane capacity and radius
The crane carries the beam, its counterweights, the lifter and the rigging as well as the panel. Working radius and total suspended weight set the lifting arrangement, and pickup and landing positions are reviewed with the crane setup.

Questions about the beam rental
Can you install glass under a balcony?
Yes, when the crane hook cannot sit directly above the pane. The beam carries the glass forward of the hook, and the setback, headroom, glass weight and crane position decide the arrangement.
How much can the beam lift?
It depends on the overhang and the attachment. The tables above give the limit at each overhang for the glass lifter and for the load hook, and the quote confirms the rating for your setup.
Is the GGA 1500 a crane?
No. It is a crane-mounted attachment. The crane supplies the lifting and positioning, and the beam provides the offset load position and the powered counterweight adjustment.
Does the rental include a glass vacuum lifter?
A compatible vacuum lifter can be rented with the beam, and the quote lists it along with the operator. The glass load limits above are for the OKTOPUS GL-M 1200 G.
Can any vacuum lifter be attached?
No. The lifter needs the correct mechanical connection and compatible release controls for the beam. Pick & Place specifies the combination for the job.
Can it lift panels or other materials?
Suitable construction elements go on the load hook, with proper lifting points and rigging. Vacuum lifting also depends on the material and its contact surface.
Is an operator included?
Yes. A trained operator comes with the rental, and the quote confirms the equipment and service for your site.
